Abstract

Mobile learning; it is defined as a learning environment where students can access learning content
using mobile devices, at any place and time. In nursing education, the use of mobile learning devices
by students is important wherever information is needed in order to use up-to-date and accurate
information. The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes of nursing students towards mobile
learning. This semi-experimental type study was conducted with students who were put into practice
in the hospital within the scope of surgical diseases nursing in the 2018-2019 academic year. The
students, who were divided into two groups for the hospital application during the application process
of the study, were taken as the experimental and control groups. Students in the experimental group
were allowed to use a mobile application to use during the application period. The control group was
not supported by any mobile application. At the end of the hospital practices, the data collection form
was applied face-to-face to the students. The study was carried out with 171 students, experimental
group (n:86) and control group (n:85). The mean age of the students was 20.4±2.4 and 74.9% (n:128)
were women. The total score of the students' attitude towards mobile learning score was 161.2±25.7.
A statistically significant difference was found in the attitude scale for mobile learning between
experimental and control groups (p<0.05, t:2.287). It was observed that the mean scores of the
students in the experimental group were significantly higher. It was observed that students who were
supported by mobile applications and hospital practices developed a positive attitude towards mobile
learning.In clinical practice areas such as nursing education, it is recommended to use mobile
applications in which students are guided correctly as learning methods that motivate students and
encourage learning.

Özet

Mobil öğrenme; yer ve zamandan bağımsız olarak, mobil cihazlar kullanılarak öğrenme içeriklerine
erişebilecekleri bir öğrenme ortamı olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Hemşirelik eğitiminde, güncel ve doğru
bilginin kullanılması amacıyla bilgiye ihtiyaç duyulan her yerde öğrenciler tarafından mobil öğrenme
cihazlarının kullanımı önemlidir. Bu çalışma ile hemşirelik öğrencilerinin mobil öğrenmeye yönelik
tutumlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Yarı deneysel tipteki bu çalışma, 2018-2019 akademik
döneminde cerrahi hastalıkları hemşireliği kapsamında hastanede uygulamaya çıkan öğrenciler ile
yürütüldü. Çalışmanın uygulama sürecinde hastane uygulaması için iki gruba ayrılan öğrenciler
deney ve kontrol grubu olarak alındı. Deney grubundaki öğrencilerin uygulama süresi boyunca
kullanmaları için bir mobil uygulama kullanmaları sağlandı. Kontrol grubu herhangi bir mobil
uygulama ile desteklenmedi. Hastane uygulamaların bitiminde öğrencilere veri toplama formu yüz
yüze uygulandı. Öğrenciler, deney grubu (n:86) ve kontrol grubu (n:85) olmak üzere iki gruba ayrıldı.
Öğrencilerin yaşları 20.4±2.4 olup ve %74.9’u (n:128) kadındı. Çalışmada öğrencilerin mobil
öğrenmeye yönelik tutum ölçeği toplam puanları 161.2 ±25.7 olarak belirlendi. Gruplar arası mobil
öğrenmeye yönelik tutum ölçeği puanları açısından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık bulundu
(p<0.05, t:2.287). Deney grubundaki öğrencilerin ölçek puan ortalamalarının anlamlı olarak yüksek
olduğu görüldü. Sonuç: Mobil uygulamalar ile hastane uygulamaları desteklenen öğrencilerin mobil
öğrenmeye yönelik olumlu tutum geliştirdikleri görüldü. Hemşirelik eğitimi gibi klinik uygulama
alanlarında, öğrencilerin doğru yönlendirildiği mobil uygulamalar öğrencileri motive eden,
öğrenmeye teşvik eden öğrenme yöntemlerin olarak kullanılması önerilir.
